T-Mobile, Nokia Partner to Optimize Scalability and Efficiency of 5G HSI Service

Nokia has announced a partnership with T-Mobile to develop a dedicated gateway solution that supports LTE, 5G NSA, and 5G SA technologies for the service provider’s nationwide fixed-wireless High-Speed Internet (HSI) traffic. Nokia will deploy its Multi-Access Gateway (MAG) solution, enabling T-Mobile to improve service scalability and time-to-market.

Providing Seamless Broadband Coverage

Fixed wireless access (FWA) is an important technology that rapidly expands high-speed broadband coverage and provides universal or ubiquitous broadband. FWA will support residential broadband applications, such as high-definition video streaming, which requires significantly more bandwidth than mobile applications.

T-Mobile will be able to provide each customer with an affordable, reliable, and seamless broadband experience thanks to the Nokia MAG solution. The Nokia platform can incrementally increase the bandwidth for HSI traffic to multiple terabits-per-second while maintaining significant power and space efficiency. As T-Mobile expands its HSI service to more homes, it will benefit from increased bandwidth while using less space and power.

The Nokia MAG uses 7750 Service Routers (SR) to efficiently deliver broadband services via fixed-wireless access (FWA) technologies. The Nokia MAG solution for 7750 SR systems combines the throughput and power savings of an NPU-assisted user-plane architecture with the flexibility of a 3GPP control-plane architecture.

High-Speed Internet Service Expansion
