Digi Communications is reportedly in advanced talks with a consortium led by Macquarie Capital to sell its fiber-to-the-home network.
According to reports, the network, which has been installed in 6.6 million Spanish homes, could be sold for around €1 billion.
The money will be used to fund the development of the Romanian operator’s mobile operations in Spain, which includes the development of a proprietary mobile network in the country.
Digi’s Spanish subsidiary had already agreed to pay around €120 million for a number of spectrum licenses from MasMovil.
It already has an MVNO in the market and plans to acquire specific blocks in the 1,800MHz, 2,100MHz, and 3,500MHz bands.
