Driving Innovation with APIs
The partnership focuses on integrating Nokia’s Network as a Code platform with HT’s developer portal. This will provide developers with streamlined access to HT’s 5G network assets, fostering a robust ecosystem for API-driven applications. HT, part of the Deutsche Telekom Group and Croatia’s largest telecom operator, is known for pioneering new technologies and serves as a model within the DT Group, which is increasingly focused on API monetization.
Similarly, Deutsche Telekom launched the MagentaBusiness API in 2023, charging developers for API usage in Germany. HT and Nokia aim to replicate and expand this approach in Croatia and beyond.

Partner Ecosystem and Use Cases
The collaboration includes Infobip, a Communications Platform-as-a-Service (CPaaS) provider, and Elmo, a teledriving technology specialist. The projects will leverage Nokia’s 5G capabilities, like Quality of Service on Demand, and Infobip’s APIs to seamlessly integrate communication services such as SMS, voice, and video.
Elmo’s teledriving technology, which enables remote vehicle operation via software, cameras, and sensors, will benefit from HT’s 5G network. This technology has already been tested across Europe, with human drivers remotely controlling vehicles from hundreds of kilometers away, even across national borders.

Global Impact and Future Prospects
Nokia’s Network as Code platform, supported by 27 partners across continents, including significant telcos like BT, DISH, and Orange, is poised to revolutionize how network capabilities are accessed and monetized. Developers will gain access to powerful tools like Software Development Kits (SDKs) that offer network insights, QoS on Demand, and device location services.
Boris Drilo, CTIO at Hrvatski Telekom, emphasized the potential of these projects, stating, “By unlocking 5G capabilities, we aim to inspire groundbreaking applications across industries, not just in Croatia, but globally.”
Matija Ražem, VP of Business Development at Infobip, highlighted the importance of a simplified developer experience to make APIs commercially viable. “This partnership demonstrates how a thriving API ecosystem can deliver tangible solutions for providers and users,” he said.
Enn Laansoo, Jr., CEO of Elmo, added that overcoming network challenges is crucial for ensuring the seamless operation of remotely controlled vehicles, even during high-traffic periods.
Shaping the Future of Networking
Shkumbin Hamiti, Nokia’s Head of Network Monetization Platform, underscored the strategic value of this collaboration, noting that, “With our Network as Code platform, Hrvatski Telekom gains flexibility and automation to create new value propositions. This marks a significant step in evolving networking to unlock new applications.”
As HT and Nokia push the boundaries of 5G innovation, their collaboration promises to pave the way for transformative applications that will redefine connectivity and digital experiences across Europe.
