MASORANGE, Spain’s leading telecom operator, has increased mobile browsing speeds by more than 15% on Madrid’s metro network. This improvement allows customers across all MASORANGE brands to enjoy seamless and uninterrupted connectivity for calls and mobile internet access during their commutes on the Madrid and Bilbao subway lines. The speed boost comes from expanding the network’s capacity at these key transit locations.
Cellnex manages the Madrid metro’s underground coverage, as it has acquired the majority stake in Metrocall, the neutral operator responsible for ensuring that the leading operators’ frequencies are available underground. This collaboration allows MASORANGE, Movistar, and Vodafone to provide their users with a high-quality experience throughout the journey. To maintain a consistent signal, directional antennas are installed every few meters, complemented by coaxial cables running along the tracks.
