VEON-owned Ukrainian telecom operator, Kyivstar, has launched a new generative AI (GenAI) lab in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS). The initiative is designed to help local businesses integrate generative AI tools into their operations, boosting efficiency and enhancing competitiveness.
The newly established GenAI lab will leverage AWS’s advanced cloud infrastructure and AI capabilities to offer various services, including text and visual content generation, AI-powered chatbots, and virtual assistants. These solutions aim to streamline business processes and improve operational performance for Ukrainian enterprises, fostering long-term growth and innovation.

Kyivstar CEO, Oleksandr Komarov, highlighted the transformative potential of generative AI for Ukraine’s business landscape, stating, “Generative AI has the power to enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of Ukraine’s enterprises significantly. It will also play a critical role in driving economic recovery and supporting long-term growth in the country.”
The launch of the GenAI lab builds upon a broader collaboration between Kyivstar and AWS, formalized in December 2023. This partnership accelerates cloud migration, enhances data storage capabilities, strengthens cybersecurity, and migrates Kyivstar’s data management platform to the AWS cloud.
