As part of the Mærsk Group, APMT oversees wireless connectivity in over 70 ports globally and will pilot HT’s managed service model in Rijeka. Additionally, APMT plans to transition from the current 5G NSA architecture to an advanced 5G SA architecture, making it the first adopter of a dedicated network slice tailored for industrial applications.
“This project demonstrates Rijeka Gateway’s confidence in our ability to provide a high availability service for flawless 24/7 port operations. It confirms our strategy in providing business-critical communication through our public mobile network,” noted Marijana Bačić, a Management Board member and Chief Operating Officer Business at Hrvatski Telekom.

Peter Corfitsen, CEO of Rijeka Gateway, highlighted that they are working on creating one of the most technologically advanced terminals in Rijeka. He emphasized that since the inception of the terminal’s design phase, their priority has been to reduce its environmental footprint and enhance its integration with the local community.
“The terminal in Rijeka will be the only terminal in this part of Europe with remotely operated cranes. Almost all equipment will be electric, and we are installing very advanced energy optimization and overall terminal management systems. A high-quality and reliable communication infrastructure is a prerequisite for this way of working, and we look forward to cooperating with Hrvatski Telekom,” Corfitsen concluded.
