Bite Latvija and Vodafone Partner for In-Car Internet

Bite Latvija has officially partnered with Vodafone, becoming the official provider of the ‘Internet in the Car’ service in Latvia. This collaboration allows car manufacturers to offer seamless internet connectivity in compatible vehicles, turning cars into fully functional internet hubs.

The service, powered by Vodafone’s Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, which support over 187 million connections worldwide, combined with Bite Latvija’s local network, enables users to enjoy robust connectivity for various applications like navigation, entertainment, and remote work, regardless of location.

Seamless Connectivity and Global Impact

The ‘Internet in the Car’ service is now available in more than 30 countries, including Latvia, and offers a reliable internet experience through the mobile networks of local partners. In Latvia, major automotive brands such as Audi, Ford, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and Volvo have integrated this service into their cars, providing drivers and passengers with the convenience of always-on connectivity.   

Arunas Mickevicius, General Director of Bite Latvija, noted, “Cooperation with one of the largest European mobile operators demonstrates trust in the Bite network, the quality of the services provided, and the expertise. Nowadays, access to stable internet while on the move is essential not only for drivers, for example, to use various mobile applications for navigation, but also for passengers who like to use their time for remote work or entertainment.”

This service ensures that the vehicle becomes an actual “living room on wheels,” offering uninterrupted access to the internet for work, entertainment, or travel needs. It’s available either as part of the vehicle package or through prepaid data plans, making it easy for customers to choose a plan that suits their needs. Moreover, users can remain connected while travelling abroad, enjoying mobile internet without worrying about roaming charges.

The ‘Internet in the Car’ service is showcasing its bold capabilities and use cases. Audi, for example, has equipped its newest models with advanced electronic architecture through which users can interact with applications like YouTube, Spotify, and voice assistants powered by ChatGPT during their journeys. Audi’s remote features also allow users to control their car’s interior temperature or receive safety notifications, making the driving experience safer and more enjoyable.
