Nordnet

French broadband provider, Nordnet, a subsidiary of telecom giant, Orange, has won a significant contract to deliver satellite connectivity to medical booths developed by the innovative e-health start-up, La Box Médicale.

These cutting-edge booths, covering 15 square meters, are fully equipped with advanced medical instruments to facilitate live online consultations, bringing accessible healthcare to remote and underserved areas.

Bridging the Digital Divide in Healthcare

The partnership relies on satellite technology from Eutelsat’s KONNECT VHTS (Very High Throughput Satellite) to power these medical stations, ensuring seamless, high-speed internet connectivity for patients and healthcare providers. Reaching rural and isolated regions that lack reliable broadband infrastructure marks a notable step forward in bridging the digital divide in healthcare.

In addition to the announcement, a new medical booth was inaugurated in Bouzy, a small village in the Marne department. This latest installation brings the total number of La Box Médicale’s connected cabins to three, with plans for further expansion across France.

These booths are designed to serve as convenient, high-tech healthcare hubs, offering patients access to remote consultations with medical professionals. Each station is equipped with diagnostic tools like blood pressure monitors, otoscopes, and stethoscopes, allowing physicians to conduct thorough examinations in real time despite being physically distant. The goal is to reduce the strain on overcrowded healthcare facilities and give patients in rural areas quicker, more efficient access to medical care.

The collaboration between Nordnet and La Box Médicale is not just a partnership but a vital contribution to the development of e-health. It is a testament to how satellite connectivity can play a transformative role in the future of healthcare, helping France meet the growing demands for remote medical services.
