The operator of the next-generation fiber network, nexfibre, has outlined planned construction sites for 2025 and early 2026, highlighting a significant increase in coverage in the previously underserved regions of North Wales and Scotland.
The planned network expansion will enhance connectivity in various UK towns, including Eastbourne, Weymouth, Nantwich, and Shropshire, with North Wales receiving particularly extensive coverage. This underscores nexfibre’s dedication to fostering national-scale competition in the fiber access market.

The latest plan highlights nexfibre’s impressive progress toward its goal of connecting 5 million premises across the UK by 2026. Currently, nearly 1.3 million premises have passed requirements and are ready for service (RFS). This reflects an increase from the previous quarterly update, which stood at 986,000.
At this pace, nexfibre is poised to surpass all fiber providers in the UK for new premises delivered in 2024, excluding the incumbent. This positions nexfibre as the UK’s second-largest alternative network provider within just two years of operation.

Rajiv Datta, CEO of nexfibre, attributed the company’s rapid progress and extensive reach to the dedicated efforts of their team, partners like Virgin Media O2, and their investors.
“We have exciting plans for 2025 and into 2026, which is part of our commitment to provide a nationwide alternative network and the competition in the fiber access market that the UK needs and deserves. Our work matters because, at its heart, better broadband improves the lives of people and communities across the country, boosts economic growth and will help the UK lead the digital future,” Datta concluded.
