In an exclusive interview with Telecom Review, Nicholas Collins, Chief Commercial Officer at EXA, elaborated on how the company is enhancing its connectivity offering through extensive terrestrial and subsea fiber network infrastructure across Europe and the Atlantic.
Which core offerings have been leveraged by EXA to expand into the European market?
Firstly, it’s great to be here at Capacity Europe 2024 and there is such a good energy around the event. At EXA, we are incredibly pleased to be back here again to showcase all the latest developments that are happening across our business. A lot has happened in the last 12 months since we were here about a year ago. We have made further network investments across both our European and transatlantic footprint. Our focus continues to be on network investments to continue to scale for the customers who need high bandwidth services across Europe and North America.
Could you elaborate on EXA’s latest collaborative and partnership efforts?
As a focused organization like EXA, we always have some great news and developments to share with our customers and with the market. This week, we announced the launch of our managed fiber network offering. This is an offering for our customers that have outgrown their wavelength or spectrum services needs and are looking to expand into dark fiber. This service is a hassle-free way to provide and consume dark fiber services without the need for self-management and installation. We have partnered with our customers to take them on this transition from lit to dark-fiber services. In addition, the unique thing about this offering is that it is going to be available across 31 markets, across both Europe and North America.
What opportunities are EXA excited about in the emerging transatlantic markets?
One of the many things that we’re focused on, and super excited about, is infrastructure across the transatlantic. We’ve made significant investments in the transatlantic market in the last 12 months, adding three new cables between North America and Europe. This means EXA now has six diverse routes across the Atlantic.
In terms of connectivity, diversity is everything, as it means that we can now give our customers an incredible breadth of choice in terms of traffic routing between North America and Europe. They can spread their traffic load across multiple cable systems, all under the management of EXA. Hence, there is lots of good news in the transatlantic sphere, resulting in a lot of flexibility for our customers. It’s an area where we’re going to continue to focus on, and further invest in, to support the AI demands we are seeing and the general flow of data between the important markets across North America and Europe.
