In an exclusive interview with Telecom Review, Adil Alaskah, Chief Technology Officer at center3, elaborated on the company’s efforts in expanding its data center and submarine cable networks to turn Saudi Arabia into a digital hub and extend its presence across the greater MENA region.
In what ways has center3 established itself as a key player in the digital infrastructure sector, especially within the Middle East?
Established in October 2022, center3 set out to build neutral data centers, and today, we have 25 data centers, 16 submarine cables, and 3 Internet Exchanges. Our commitment to investment remains strong as we continue to expand both our data centers and submarine cable network. Having met the demand in Saudi Arabia, we are now extending these services beyond KSA, starting with Bahrain. Our vision is to reach all GCC countries and, ultimately, the entire MENA region.
Could you shed light on what the concept of a ‘digital hub’ means to center3?
Being a digital hub is in our DNA, and establishing one in Saudi Arabia has always been our vision. From the start, center3 has served as a digital hub, and now we’ve expanded that presence within KSA. With our own Internet Exchange (IX), we’re committed to localizing content and empowering our partners with seamless cross-connectivity. Our goal is to create a digital hub that meets the needs of hyperscalers and fosters a thriving digital ecosystem.
Looking ahead, what is your vision for center3’s future?
Our vision is to continue investing in digital infrastructure as a core business focus. We are committed to expanding our investments across the GCC and MENA regions. These strategic investments are designed to empower our customers with the capabilities they need and the opportunities they seek.
