Varberg Municipality has reportedly transitioned its entire telephony system to Teams Operator Connect, becoming the first among Sweden’s 290 municipalities to fully adopt this technology. This innovative approach has already yielded significant benefits for the municipality’s workforce.
Varberg has partnered with Tele2 for its telephony services, resulting in a comprehensive agreement that includes both landline and mobile communication with over 4,000 subscriptions.
Notably, the entire telephony solution is integrated within the Teams platform. By connecting its Teams environment to Tele2’s operator services through Operator Connect, the municipality has established a robust, feature-rich, and easily managed communication system.

The shift to a cloud-based solution offers both financial and environmental advantages for Varberg Municipality. By utilizing cloud services, the municipality is able to decrease its carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions and lower energy consumption. Furthermore, this approach eliminates the need for investing in and maintaining its own hardware, resulting in additional cost savings and a reduced environmental footprint.
Håkan Axelsson, the IT Manager of Varberg Municipality, expressed that having all communication consolidated in a single platform is extremely convenient. He stated that the cloud solution is modern, flexible, seamless, well-integrated, and user-friendly. He also highlighted that the collaboration with Tele2 has been straightforward and the company has been responsive throughout the process.
