IBM, in collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS), has opened a new Innovation Lab in Bucharest, Romania. Located at the IBM Client Innovation Centre, the lab will serve businesses across 22 countries, providing access to cutting-edge technologies, including agentic artificial intelligence (AI) and generative AI (GenAI) solutions built with Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Q, Amazon SageMaker, and IBM watsonx on AWS.

The new lab is designed to drive modernization in the automotive, energy, utilities, manufacturing, and healthcare industries. It will help organizations accelerate cloud and mainframe application transformations by leveraging AI-driven solutions tailored to their needs. Businesses can work closely with IBM’s AWS-certified experts to develop, test, and implement innovative AI applications in a controlled environment. Prototyping new technologies will be a key feature, allowing companies to explore emerging solutions before committing to full-scale deployment.

This Innovation Lab builds on the growing partnership between IBM and AWS, following the successful launch of a similar facility in Bangalore, India, in 2023. Positioned as a central hub for AI and cloud expertise, the Bucharest lab will expand IBM’s AI-driven services across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. With over 1,200 AWS-certified professionals based in Bucharest, the center will play a pivotal role in advancing cloud and AI solutions that will help businesses modernize legacy systems and embrace more efficient, future-focused technologies.
By combining IBM’s deep industry expertise with AWS’s scalable cloud solutions, the lab will serve as a launchpad for businesses aiming to transform their digital strategies and accelerate their AI journeys.
